Account Maintenance
The GS Advisor solutions API allows you to update member, firm and account information for established members and accounts.
This user guide provides detailed documentation on how to update certain information for existing members and accounts using the public facing API to our advisor custody platform.
Note
You must establish processes to ensure that all member and account profile information, including but not limited to physical mailing address(es), email address, phone number(s), financial and employment data, and all other personal information, is accurate and complete, and that you update the GSAS system with all changes when they are received by your Firm.
We cannot accept any member email address or phone number with the same domain name or phone number that is associated with your Firm, unless that account is owned by your Firm.
Update a Member
This request updates the member information for an individual.
Certain personal information cannot be updatedby API (e.g.,username, member name, SSN, and DOB), so the table below contains only those fields that can be updated by API.
Update a Corporate Firm
This request updates the information about a corporate firm for entity accounts.
Note
Unlike corporate firms noted above, advisory firms (setup for RIA or introducing broker-dealer firms) cannot be created or updated using the API, only by our service staff. Attempts to update Institutional firms will receive an UNSUPPORTED error along with the firmId specified.
Update an Account
This request updates the details of an account. Certain account information cannot be updated by API (e.g., primary account owner, joint owners, minor, account type, and backup withholding), so the table below contains only those fields that can be updated by API.
Where applicable, primary and contingent beneficiaries are required to be included in the request body each time an account update is made. An empty list indicates a deletion of any existing beneficiaries on the account.
